OGDEN – Otto Kennard Nye died August 23, 2003 from causes incident to age.
He was born November 4, 1907 in Ogden, Utah, a son of George Osborn Nye and Angie Kennard Nye. On October 8, 1933, he married Margaret Bigelow in Alamosa, Colorado. The marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston, Alberta, Temple. They shared this companionship for 41 years. He later married Marjorie Bosgieter in Ogden. They enjoyed each others company and musical talents.
He was reared and educated in Garland, Utah. He attended the University of Utah studying music. He played the trombone in the National Guard Military Band. He had been a professional musician and played in dance bands and the theater. He enjoyed being a member of the Ogden Rodeo band, and small dance bands until his health gave way.
He served in various church callings and enjoyed being a home teacher. He was known as the “handy man.” He and his toolbox came to the aid of neighbors, family, and many church projects. He was a builder of houses and took pride in this accomplishment.
He retired as a postal worker for the United States Railway Postal Service. He was also the crusher plant foreman for Combine Metals in Pioche, NV.
Surviving are his wife Marjorie of Ogden, and two daughters: EmmaLu (Bob) Draper, Roy, and BarBara (John) McCaslin, Alaska. He has eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and one sister Cleo Burdick, California.
Preceding him in death were his first wife Margaret, his parents and three sisters.
